November 14, 2018 - The recent wildfires in Northern and Southern California are the deadliest in the state’s history.  The fires destroyed thousands of structures, taken dozens of lives, and wiped away an entire town. Thousands of people have been displaced and are in need of a place to live, including many in the REALTOR® family. Several members have written us telling us how they barely escaped with their lives.

REALTORS® Are Ready to Help
California REALTORS® offer housing assistance grants to those who have lost their home in these tragic fires.  Thanks to a $1 million grant from the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, as well as generous contributions from the California Association of REALTORS®, state and local REALTOR® associations and other contributors, grants are available to affected homeowners and renters for mortgage relief or temporary housing assistance.  Assistance is also available for REALTORS®, employees of REALTORS® and association staff directly affected by the fires.  Grants are distributed through C.A.R.'s Housing Affordability Fund and Disaster Relief Fund.  To apply, please fill out the application below and send to disasterrelief@car.org.

How YOU Can Help
Even with the REALTORS® Relief Foundation's generosity, the need is great.  It is anticipated that up to 200 members of the REALTOR® family will apply for relief grants.  Please help us continue this effort by making a tax-deductible contribution to the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS'® Disaster Relief Fund or to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation.  The C.A.R. Disaster Relief Fund was established in the wake of the devastating 2003 California wildfires and has been helping the REALTOR® family recover from natural disasters for more than 15 years.

Currently, C.A.R. is matching contributions up to a total of $250,000. To make a tax-deductible donation by check, please make payable to the California Community Foundation and write "C.A.R. Disaster Relief Fund" on the "memo" line.  Send checks to the California Community Foundation, 221 S. Figueroa St., Suite 400, Los Angeles, CA 90012.  For questions, please contact disasterrelief@car.org or call Sharlena Bernard at (213) 739-8297.

Thank You to Our Generous Donors

Since November 8, 2018, we have raised over $145,000 for those affected by the recent wildfires, due to the tremendous generosity of our REALTOR® family and community members.  A heartfelt THANK YOU to the donors listed below who have contributed $250 and above to the C.A.R. Disaster Relief Fund.  For a complete list of donors, please click HERE.
